Most things today are made to be temporary.
Designed for a season. Produced in vast quantities. Replaced as soon as they’re worn, scratched, or no longer fashionable. Jewellery, especially, has become something disposable — more about surface-level style than substance.
Vestis Studios exists to do something very different.
This studio was created to reconnect us with materials that feel almost impossible in the modern world — materials that predate us by millions of years, yet can be worn every day. Not behind glass in a museum. Not as an abstract concept. But on your finger, around your neck, as part of your life.
Jewellery with a deeper timeline
At the heart of Vestis Studios is a simple idea:
objects can carry meaning and history — not just decoration.
All of the pieces made here use genuine prehistoric materials, including dinosaur bone and fossilised remains. These aren’t replicas or symbolic references. They are real fragments of our prehistory, carefully sourced and worked into wearable forms.
Not in a loud way. Not as a novelty. But as a subtle reminder of how small we are — and how connected we still are — to the past.
Elegant. Minimal. Intentional.
The designs themselves are deliberately restrained.
Vestis Studios doesn’t chase trends or seasonal drops. Each piece is designed to feel timeless — something that can be worn daily, paired with anything, and still feel relevant years from now.
The fossils and materials are never meant to overwhelm the design. They’re integrated quietly, thoughtfully, allowing the history within them to speak for itself. If you know, you know.
What “Vestis” means
Adorn | Lead | Preserve
From the Latin “vestis,” meaning garment or adornment. From the Lithuanian “vestis,” meaning to lead or to carry oneself. Echoing the English “vestige,” meaning a trace of what once was.
That idea runs through everything here.
Each piece is a trace of something older than us. A physical connection to a prehistoric world that feels increasingly distant from our digital, fast-moving lives. Vestis Studios exists to bring that connection back into reach — in a way that feels elegant, wearable, and deeply personal.
A human studio, built slowly
Vestis Studios is run by me - Tom, in the UK. I'm a scientist by day, focusing on food allergens and meat authenticity. But every moment of my free time is spend crafting, building, and developing Vestis Studios. It started out as a hobby, developed into a little Etsy store, and this is the next step in the evolution.
There’s no factory line. No mass production. Just careful sourcing, considered design, and hands-on making. That human element matters. It always has.
Every piece carries that intention with it.
This journal
This blog will serve as a place to document the materials, the process, the design decisions, and the philosophy behind Vestis Studios. It’s not about selling more things — it’s about sharing why these things exist at all.
If you’re drawn to jewellery that carries meaning, history, and quiet confidence — you’re in the right place.
